Bushels of Love Foundation was developed to help raise money for children around the world that need assistance. It is the mission of the foundation to establish a worldwide effort to help change the lives of children around the world who are homeless, abused, or in need of medical or educational services.
 Caleb wants to specify all donations to assist in helping children. Caleb said, “one year I may want to donate to children who are homeless and another year give food to children who are hungry.”  “There are so many children who need me,” he says.  
Here is the story of how the foundation began.
   My name is Caleb Powelson and I am 12 years old. I wasn’t sure exactly how to start a foundation to help children, but I knew that it was something I needed to do. One Sunday in church I was handed a piece of paper to sponsor a child. The Childs name was Maphelo Nayinayi and he was from South Africa. The paper said that the little boy had lost his father to HIV and was now living with his very sick mother and his grandma who was mentally ill. The paper had also said that he didn’t have many clothes and not much to eat. This made me very sad. I began to think of how many children out there needed help and what I could do to assist in helping them. I told my mom that I was going to get a job to help raise money for these children but because of my age, she said that would be hard to do. Mom said she would pay me to help with chores but I knew that it would take way to long to raise the money, and these children needed my help now.
I came up with the Idea for Bushels of Love because many of my family members are farmers and every year during harvest they take their grain to the elevator. I told my mom that if all the farmers who brought their grain to the elevator donated one bushel to charity than we could raise money everywhere to help children around the world who are sick, homeless, starving, needing medical treatment and so much more. I believe that we can raise enough money through Bushels of Love to help children around the world have a better future.
I would be very sad if I did not have my mom, dad or any food to eat or clothes to wear. I can’t imagine not having a home or a warm place to sleep. I am hoping and praying that this foundation will help us raise a lot of money around the world so that these children who need us can have a better life.  Please help me help them.
